Notorious Chess Tournament Blacklist Includes Matthew Lillard and GenCon President David Hoppe

Two high profile personalities, GenCon President David Hoppe and actor Matthew Lillard (Scream franchise, Scooby Doo), are found to be listed in a leaked 'blacklist' of barred chess players by the FIDE (International Chess Federation). Infamous within the chess community, the Federation's blacklist is highly coveted and extremely censorious. Bans on Grandmasters (the highest title awarded by the world chess organization FIDE) and highly accomplished players have been known publicly due to the nature of their status within the chess community, expulsion of less acclaimed players is often kept under wraps.
It is not exactly known what instance caused the ban of each Lillard and Hoppe, but clear speculations are being made based on their habits during past public chess tournaments.
“Im not surprised AT ALL that David Hoppe got banned. I mean the guy would literally attempt to use Magic the Gathering cards when he was losing. Like come on man.” - @therooktheking
“HA! Finally after years Matthew Lillard is being blacklisted! The guy would win tournaments by putting on a scream mask and lunging with that knife from the movie. Who is supposed to be able to compete against that?! Everyone was scared and the room ALWAYS reeked of piss when he came.” -@pawnshop88
The FIDE has not made a statement regarding the leak of their ban-list at this time.
[UPDATE]: Both public figures have issued statements and official appeal requests with the FIDE since being publicly outed as banned.
“I apologize for the actions I made that interrupted such a beautiful sport. My competitive nature leaps forward in high stress and the Chess community deserves to feel safe in their tournaments.” - Matthew Lillard via Threads
David Hoppe has simply stated: “My only infraction was a misunderstanding. After a long night in 2016 I was of the understanding I was attending a playtest for a new TTRPG. I've made many life reflections following that weekend.” - David Hoppe via Instagram Story
David Hoppe also exclaimed his wishes to be removed from the list so that he may attempt to pursue a chess career. He is reportedly very good at the game.
Chess fanatics sit in suspense awaiting the FIDE’s decision on both the appeals.
