Press Release

Indie Improv Card Game Changes Name to Pathological

Beloved Aussie Game Expands Internationally with a New Name

MELBOURNE (NAARM), VICTORIA — Wrong Answers Only will be officially rebranded as Pathological. This evolution is part of the game’s international expansion into the United States and Europe on November 15.

Why the Change?
The decision to rebrand the game as Pathological comes a result of our international expansion, maintaining consistency for players around the world.

But that’s not all—this transition introduces some exciting updates to the game. Alongside the new name, Pathological will come in an updated, sleek and slender box with enhanced vibrant colours. The game components and ruleset also receive small adjustments based on player feedback, making Pathological the best version of the game yet.

“We felt that Pathological better captures the essence of what the game is ultimately about, as the name in itself is a playful spin on very factual word,” said game creator Jett Archer. “While we have loved the name Wrong Answers Only and acknowledge that it has played a part in propelling us to where we are today, we’re excited for Pathological to forge its own path.”

A New Name, A New Look
Coinciding with the transition to Pathological is a taller and slimmer game box, giving it a unique modern profile that compliments the game’s personality. The decision to alter the box is not only an aesthetic one, but also based on community and manufacturing feedback, as the new box now makes it easier to organise and store game components.

For Existing Customers in Australia and New Zealand
Fans who already own copies of Wrong Answers Only can rest assured that their copies will be compatible with any future game expansions that may release. With Pathological including updates to cards to accommodate for international players, certain cards are now limited to only Wrong Answers Only copies of the game. To clarify the transition in retail stores, new Pathological copies in Australia and New Zealand will be marked with a ‘Previously known as Wrong Answers Only’ for a limited time.

A Year of Success for the Indie Game
Since the launch of the game at the end of last year, Wrong Answers Only has achieved outstanding success in Australia. Within a year the game has gone from entering the scene as an unknown self-funded passion project, to being sold in the majority of games retailers across the country. The game has been a standout at major conventions such as PAX Australia in 2023 and 2024, where it has earned a reputation for being a fan-favourite tabletop booth. Additionally, the game earned a People's Choice Award at The Game Expo 2024.

Partnered with Meeple Distributors within Australia and New Zealand, Pathological will continue to be available in major retailers such as EB Games, Games World, The Gamesmen, Gameology and more, ensuring easy access for players both old and new.

What’s Next for Pathological?
As Pathological rolls out across international markets, Jett Archer remains committed to expanding and upgrading the Pathological lineup based on discussions with the gaming community. Enhancements are already being implemented as Pathological includes additional ‘Write Your Own Answer’ cards, enhancements to the 3-Player rules, and improvements to the game’s component quality.
